Awareness (Study) contents

As per the National Bioresources Development Board under the department of Biotechnology, the DNA Club is divided into two categories Group A (6-8th standard) and Group B (9-12th standard).

The study contents of the group A (Class 6-8th) are given below:

    • The living world, physical and biological environment
    • Biology, cell as a basic unit of life, morphology of plants and its habit
    • Component of ecosystem and importance of ecosystem. Definitions, abiotic & biotic factors, ecosystem measurements, important process in ecosystem and its conservation.
    • Socio cultural environment and tropical structure. Man made alteration in the environment, jhum cultivation, urbanization, and impact on society due to socio cultural activities, food chain, food web, types of food chains, tropic pyramids, and food webs.
    • Natural resources of the earth, Forest, soil, mineral, water and air and there importance to mankind
    • Microorganisms and its uses. Definition, algae, bacteria, fungi and useful and harmful microorganism
    • Source of energy: non renewable and renewable energy, types of fuel, solar energy, energy for  development of technology
    • Factors that influence the distribution of animal and plants. Temperature, water, fire, light and human
    • Food production and its management. Agriculture – its practices, crop improvement and diary industry
    • Biotechnology and Genetics, its application to human
