Aim

The Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development (IBSD), Imphal was established realizing the importance of the rich biodiversity and unique bioresources of N.E. region of India which falls within the Indo-Burma biodiversity hotspot.

The Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science & Technology, Govt. of India with the approval of the National Bioresources Development Board, established the Institute during the year 2001 with the mission of Bioresources development and their sustainable utilization through biotechnological interventions for socio-economic growth of the North- Eastern Region of India with the following mission, goal and objectives:

Mission:
Bioresources development and their sustainable utilization through biotechnological interventions for socio-economic growth of the North-Eastern Region if India.

Goal:
Scientific management of bioresources in the Indian region of the Indo-Burma Biodiversity Hotspot.
